Theatre is the ultimate group project.

2024 BRYT Students

No one person could possibly have all of the skills, money, and time necessary to make the sets, costumes, props, and do other tasks to get the show ready. During the performance, it takes at least two people to run lights and sound. And have you ever heard a one person choir?

Even a one-person play takes several different people to design, run, and staff.

While selecting pieces for this showcase, I tried to find ways to celebrate the student’s individuality and give them each a ‘moment’... while emphasizing that the best things happen when we work together.

Teamwork is a core part of how theatre gets made, and a goal we work towards in every single class, camp, and show. Students practice communication skills, build empathy, take turns being leaders, and solve problems collaboratively.

I could not be prouder of our students’ performance on December 10th–every jazz square, harmony, and silly student-written play proved that we shine brighter together. It was a night filled with laughter, community, and pure joy. It was some of our students’ stage debut, and for our veteran performers, a chance to show off some new skills.

I’m so thankful for our students’ hard work and dedication, their parent’s support, and our community for helping to jumpstart BRYT into its own nonprofit. This next phase of our adventure is going to be so exciting!

See you in the Spring,

Olivia
